About us

We are husband and wife team; Stuart and Charlotte. Having both developed a soul deep, everlasting passion for our beautiful British coastline during our time living in Brighton and Hove (Stuart at university and Charlotte at school there at the same time), it seemed inevitable that we would eventually settle down in another place of coastal beauty (Devon) where we both had our family links, to create a family of our own.  Having come from a design background, Charlotte was never able to walk along the beach without ‘collecting’ and ‘foraging’, thankfully this was a trait Stuart found “endearing” and in no time Stuart was just as focused on beach combing as Charlotte. Charlotte’s first introduction to the art of flower pressing began in the 80s when her grandmother bought her a delightful little press and encouraged her to forage for beautiful floral specimens in the gardens and forest. Later, the floral pressings evolved in to seaweed pressings as the draw of spending time by the sea was always so great. It was a logical next step that we would combine our passions of being together, beach combing and creating beautiful, sustainable artwork and launch The Devon Seaweed Company.
